Thank you for your interest in Clear Creek Hunting and our Mule Deer hunting opportunities. Clear Creek Hunting offers a variety of top quality, 100% fair chase hunts on large, private ranches throughout Northern Utah. We lease the exclusive hunting rights to many exceptional private land habitats, providing a safe haven for thriving populations of Mule Deer.
There are not many places you can go hunting where you can look at over 20 bucks a day. On our trophy buck hunts we have tremendous resident herds of deer where it is not uncommon to see over 100 deer a day with 20 or more bucks. Private land is all we hunt so there is very little pressure on the animals we go after. Most of the time we will be hunting on the ranches using our Polaris Rangers. Coolers for drinks and other perishable items are furnished by your guide.
The length of the shot will be determined by you and your guide. The further you can accurately shoot is a benefit and we will make every attempt to find a solid rest. You should practice shooting prone, sitting, and kneeling while bracing your rifle on a solid object such as a rock, fence post, or tree. Recommended rifle size is whatever you feel comfortable shooting and should be sighted in 2" high at a 100 yards. We do recommend your bullet weight to be at least 130 grains up to 180 grains. Spot and stalk hunting methods help put our clients in prime position to make a shot and obtain a trophy Buck.
We hunt for mature bucks that typically have at least four points on each side. Many of our past trophies have non-typical points. Some of the widest bucks in past years have been old, mature 3x4’s or 3x5’s with heavy horns and deep forks, needless to say they look pretty impressive. Weather conditions and physical condition of the hunter can come into play especially during the October and November hunts. A typical day of hunting would be spent glassing areas from vehicles or selected elevated points hoping to catch bucks moving to and from feeding and bedding areas in the morning and evening.
We offer one of the best Archery hunts the west has to offer. Our deer numbers are great with bucks being plentiful. The season starts mid-August thru the first week of September. The hot weather brings the bucks into the ranch with its ponds and natural springs. Weather changes often this time of year. We can have flash flood rainstorms and hailstorms. Bring warm clothes that can be layered as well as good boots. Our average shooting range the past few years has been between 30-45 yards.
Clear Creek Hunting LLC offers exceptional Mule Deer hunts on some of the best private lands that the west has to offer. We have CWMU’s as well as private ranches. We offer Archery, Muzzleloader and Rifle hunts. We start the day with a light breakfast so that we can be out on the property before daylight. Most days we will return to camp for lunch and a power nap if needed. Your guide will let you know when to be ready to leave for the evening hunt. After the day of hunting ends we all return to camp for a nice dinner.
Depending on the hunt area we will either be staying in one of our lodges on the mountain or in a hotel at a nearby town. All our properties have wide open country where you can glass for miles. We would recommend bringing binoculars in the highest power that you are comfortable glassing long periods of time with. Our guides use 10–15 power binos and have their own spotting scopes for really getting a good look at the animals before planning a stalk.
Clear Creek Hunting offers a variety of packages appealing to most hunter's budget and desires.
